As part of Giving Day, Eugene Jhong has made a philanthropic commitment of $2 million to create the Thomas G. Bever and Stuart R. Hameroff Chair in Consciousness Studies in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The new Chair benefits from the U of A Eminent Scholars Program, which helps the university recruit and retain top faculty and support graduate students. The holder of the Chair will be the director of the Consciousness Studies minor. Eugene, a retired Google software developer turned philanthropist, has previously supported the creation of the Consciousness Studies minor as well as interdisciplinary research in consciousness at the U of A. The College of SBS is incredibly grateful for Eugene’s generosity and vision.
